ARRESTS A GARRISON ENGINEER
FOR
ACCEPTING A BRIBE OF RS.30,000/-
20-6-2014 : The
Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested a Garrison Engineer, MES,
Kapurthala (Punjab) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.30,000/- from
the Complainant.
CBI has registered a case against Garrison
Engineer, MES, Kapurthala under Prevention of Corruption Act on complaint
received from Contractor (Registered with MES) alleging demand of bribe of
Rs.2.31 lacs in lieu of clearing the pending bills of his firm as well as the
bills already cleared. However, at the request of the Complainant, the Garrison
Engineer agreed to accept Rs.30,000/- as first instalment. CBI laid a trap and
the accused was caught red handed while demanding & accepting bribe of
Rs.30,000/- from the Complainant on 20.6.2014. Searches were carried out at the
office & residential premises of public servant.
The arrested accused will be produced
tomorrow in the Designated Court at Patiala (Punjab).
